Safety Supervisor

Hiring Salary Range (annual):  $5,425.33/mo (min) - $6,618.73 (mid)
Type of Position: Full-Time, 40 hrs/week
Location of position: Denver Water’s Admin Bldg. (1600 W 12th Ave, Denver, CO 80204)

Position Summary:

The Administrative Services at Denver Water is looking for a Safety Supervisor to join their team! This position is responsible for supervising a comprehensive safety and loss control program involving industrial safety and health, and accident and claims investigation. Supervising and planning the activities and operations of safety and loss control specialists.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement methods of identifying hazards from a safety and loss control aspect. Evaluate and implement improvements to safety and loss control programs including accident prevention procedures, corrective actions, and employee training.

  • Maintain an accident and incident reporting system and its database and provide periodic updates to Denver Water supervisory personnel.

  • Ensure timely and thorough investigation of safety related accidents/incidents and claim related matters including the preparation of appropriate documentation of injuries, property damage, and public liability.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of facility and job safety analysis audits to identify safety and health hazards referencing OSHA, NIOSH, and other applicable industry criteria.

  • Coordinate and conduct safety and loss control publicity campaigns, meetings, and training for all Denver Water employees.

  • Evaluate and communicate new rules and regulations involving occupational safety and health issues.

  • Participate with other divisions and offer safety expertise in project design, construction operations, and water distribution system operations.

  • Stay abreast of current safety compliance requirements, management techniques and trends, to ensure Denver Water follows best industry practices.

  • Assist in representing the department with local, state, and federal agencies as needed.

  • Manage various contracts related to the safety and loss control program including professional services and equipment purchases.

  • Perform safety and health hazard identification, evaluation and identification of control measures, and support various sections with development and field execution of safety plans for various activities.

  • Perform related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Safety, Loss Prevention, Risk Management, Business

  • Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum 6 years of related work experience and 2 years supervisory experience.

  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Licenses, Registration, and Certification:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class ‘R” Colorado driver’s and have a satisfactory driving record.

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Associate Safety & Health Manager (ASHM) certification preferred.

  • May require HIPAA Training.
