Denver Water’s Accounting Section is looking for two interns to assist with a variety of accounting activities. This may include activities such as performing physical inventory of fixed assets, adding physical asset tags to newly commissioned fixed assets, working to identify and cross reference the Accounting Section’s land records with that in Engineering’s Property Management’s records, and other accounting activities as identified. This position will allow you to develop your work experience in a public sector environment.
Skill set required to be considered for this position include but are not limited to:
Ability to organize, analyze, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data
Proficiency in oral and written communications with ability to explain financial and other types of information to others
Ability to work with Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel
Ability and willingness to work independently
Must have a valid Colorado ‘R’ driver’s license and be willing to travel between Denver Water facilities
This position may be a paid position or for school credit, at the student’s choice.
Full Time, 40 hours per week

Hiring Range: Business Technical Intern II $15.00 to $21.00/hour
Hiring Criteria: Business/Technical Intern II – Junior or Senior level student in Business, Accounting, Public Administration, or other related fields.
Location of position: Main Campus/Administration Building (although commuting to other Denver Water facilities may be necessary)

Denver Water’s, Finance Division under the direction of the CEO/Manager, is responsible for the management of financial resources, acting as the disbursing authority for the CEO/Manager, as well as the custodian of all Denver Water records. The Accounting Section is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of financial records. This responsibility includes the control and disbursement of funds for approved payables and payroll, inventory of assets of utility plan and equipment, control and verification of receivables and contract control. This section prepares periodic financial statements, reports, and year-end financial statements subject to the audit and verification of an independent auditing firm.
